It is always important to plan ahead. To plan, you need a goal. So let us start from the end   Once you have a clear goal in mind, you can plan how to achieve it. I suggest not to go crazy with planning every possibility. It defeats the purpose. Start simple, have a plan A and a plan B (always good to have a backup plan).

Once you have a plan, the next step is to prepare. Whether you need to read through some material or tune your muscles for an activity, some preparation is always good just to get the juices flowing for the upcoming task you plan to execute.

This brings us to execution. It is always one basket at a time (basketball), one return at a time (tennis), one answer at a time (exam), I think you get the point. Focus fully on the task at hand and execute it to perfection. Do not think of the result while doing your work (One of Bhagavad Gita’s core teaching by Shri Krishna). In very simple terms, you really do not want your goal itself to become your distraction while executing your task, right?

Finally having self-confidence is winning half the battle. No matter what the outcome may be, you just proceed with confidence. Do not let small failures shake you up. There are really no success stories without failures. Stick to your plan and execute with confidence. If you feel things are really not going well, shift gears to plan B and continue with confidence in yourself.

So, with proper planning, preparation and good execution backed up by self-confidence, one can achieve whatever they want to do and most importantly will be able to do so with happiness and enjoy their journey as they have the secret recipe for getting ahead.
